Three Metro Transit bus routes serve Sun Prairie: Route A1, Metro’s new “Bus Rapid Transit” (BRT) line running from the west side of Madison through downtown Madison to the Sun Prairie Park & Ride facility near the intersection of O’Keeffe Ave. and Reiner Rd., and Routes S and W, which connect with Route A1 at the Park & Ride. Route S travels at hourly intervals in a counter-clockwise loop from the Park & Ride through downtown Sun Prairie and portions of the city’s east, north, and west neighborhoods and the Prairie Lakes shopping area and back to the Park & Ride. Route S operates seven days a week between about 6:30 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. More info on Route S, including schedules, on the Metro Transit website.
Route W travels at half-hourly intervals on a clockwise loop along Grand Ave. (serving the Prairie Lakes shopping area), U.S. 151, and Windsor, Bird, and Main Streets, returning to the Park & Ride via O’Keeffe Avenue. Route W operates Monday through Friday between about 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. More info on Route W, including schedules, on the Metro Transit website.

Both Sun Prairie circulator routes are designed to connect, at the Park & Ride, with the Route A1 Metro Rapid BRT route to and from Madison. Route A1 Metro Rapid buses operate seven days a week between about 5 a.m. and 11 p.m., at half-hour intervals on weekdays and Saturday daytimes, and hourly later in the evening and on Sunday. Paratransit
Paratransit service is a shared-ride service for individuals who are unable to use Metro Transit’s fixed-route bus transit services because of a disability. Paratransit is generally available to those living near a fixed-route bus route, which includes many (though not all) areas of Sun Prairie. Fares & How to Ride
The base fare for a single Metro Transit ride is $2.00, but Metro offers a variety of discounted fares for different circumstances and caps on fare totals for multiple rides within a given period.
